A new pet or dinner?

IMG_3791I spent Christmas Day in Busan with some friends.  As we wandered down the beach, we saw this man.  What was he carrying?

We got closer.

It was a giant pink squid, and apparently they are quite heavy.  He stopped frequently to rest giving us the opportunity to investigate further.

Had he caught it?  Found it washed up along the beach?  What was he going to do with it? Eat it?  Put it in a tank? Was it even dead?  We left when it started spitting ink all over the sidewalk.  I’ve seen 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea; I know what happens when you make giant squids angry.

I guess in Korea, nothing says Merry Christmas like a giant squid!
